While they offer a variety of flavors every day, there is one item that never leaves the menu: the chocolate chip cookie dough donut. This heavenly treat is made with thin layers of chocolate chip cookies inside and topped with a chocolate glaze and oreo crumbs. It’s been voted top three in Texas by Maxim Magazine for years on end and it really does live up to its reputation.Katie Goodwin has been working at The Bread & Cie for six years. When asked about the elements that make the bakery so successful, she only had one word: service. She said, “We are a little old-fashioned and not afraid to say, ‘I’m sorry’ if we have messed up your order or made you wait too long. We want our customers to know they will never be rushed through their meal here.” Goodwin said, “We have a good time while we are working and it shows in our service. We know the food is good so why wouldn’t you enjoy yourself when you come here?”I must say that I agree with her. On my most recent visit, I ordered one of their famous quiche and some fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies to go. The quiche was perfect – light, fluffy and delicious with just the right amount of cheese.
