Address: 10819 Foothill Blvd. | Sunland, CA 91040
This restaurant can be found in Sunland, California and is known for its deli sandwiches as well as baked goods. It was founded in 2004 and has since grown to a staff of 15 workers. While there have been some changes to the menu since then, the most popular items are still available including sandwiches like grilled chicken breast on five grain bread with hummus or turkey club on sourdough bread with lettuce and tomato. The bakery side boasts delicious desserts like chocolate chip cookies or specialty treats like nut roll and cinnamon rolls . This restaurant is known for its fresh baked goods, so it’s no wonder that the Ovenbird Bakery & Bistro is still going strong 10 years later.Located in the North Park neighborhood of San Diego, California, this bakery and bistro serves up all kinds of amazing baked goods that have earned it a reputation as one of South County’s favorite places to visit. Its checkered tables, bar stools and old school arcade games give it a retro feel which is enhanced by the mouthwatering offerings on the menu. With over 20 different kinds of scones alone (not counting all the other pastries like cookies, muffins and brownies), you could easily spend an entire afternoon visiting this charming bakery and never run out of things to eat. There are also several delicious salads and sandwiches, as well as a daily lunch special that changes every day. With all the great baked goods and sandwiches on the menu, there is much debate about what exactly is the best thing to order at The Bread & Cie. We think it’s a toss up between the Chicken Bahn Mi sandwich and their sweet potato fries. The chicken is perfectly seasoned, with just the right amount of mayonnaise, cilantro, cucumber and red onion for a flavor explosion in your mouth every time you take a bite. The sweet potato fries are cut thick like steak fries and delicately fried in canola oil, then sprinkled with sea salt for an absolute perfect texture and taste. These fries are so good, they’re the only side dish you will ever need! However, if you come to The Bread & Cie more than once, you’ll quickly realize that their doughnuts are not to be missed. While they offer a variety of flavors every day, there is one item that never leaves the menu: the chocolate chip cookie dough donut. This heavenly treat is made with thin layers of chocolate chip cookies inside and topped with a chocolate glaze and oreo crumbs. It’s been voted top three in Texas by Maxim Magazine for years on end and it really does live up to its reputation.Katie Goodwin has been working at The Bread & Cie for six years. When asked about the elements that make the bakery so successful, she only had one word: service. She said, “We are a little old-fashioned and not afraid to say, ‘I’m sorry’ if we have messed up your order or made you wait too long. We want our customers to know they will never be rushed through their meal here.” Goodwin said, “We have a good time while we are working and it shows in our service. We know the food is good so why wouldn’t you enjoy yourself when you come here?”I must say that I agree with her. On my most recent visit, I ordered one of their famous quiche and some fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies to go. The quiche was perfect – light, fluffy and delicious with just the right amount of cheese. And if ever there was a true lover of chocolate chip cookies, I am sure Katie Goodwin would be at the top of that list. She has such an enthusiasm for them that you can almost taste them just by listening to her talk about them! The Bread & C ie is open 7 days a week from 6:00am-3:00pm, except for Sundays when they are closed. During the holiday season, they are “open” on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. If you want to get their wonderful treats, it’s best to call in your order beforehand or place it online so that you can enjoy the day with your family and friends rather than spending part of it in line waiting to be served! http://breadandcie.com/
